Breast Cancer In Men
Everybody knows that breast cancer is a big problem for women. Do you know that many men also suffer from this breast cancer silently? This being the case, it is very much important for men also to know the signs of breast cancer. At any time, these signs can be detected and men should see a doctor to confirm. Early detection is even as important for men as it is for women. Whenever breast cancer is diagnosed in early stages, the quicker treatment should be started to prevent the other risks. This can increase the rate of survival.
If men notice a new lump in one breast, then in that case a careful and complete checkup of both the breasts should be done and this examination is very easy to perform. Lie on your back and raise your right hand over the head. With the pad of two or three fingers of the left hand, thoroughly check the right axillary area for the detection of lumps or anything abnormal if present. Then again do the same with the other breast also, making sure that you have checked across to the thorax and up to the clavicle. Now repeat this process with the left hand over the head and you can also check while standing up in the shower or while getting dressed. With the pad of two or three fingers move your hand softly over every part of each breast. Now check for the lumps, knots or any thickening. You have to use your right hand for the left breast and left hand for the right breast. If you feel anything abnormal in the breast then you should go to doctor as soon as possible. Its not compulsion that these lumps are due to cancer of breast, there could be something else and that your doctor has to find out. You should never take any lump so lightly. The chances of getting rid of breast cancer are higher when it is diagnosed as early as possible.
See a doctor whenever you find a lump in the breast. Only a doctor can check to see if there are any issues with the breast cancer. Early screening is very important even if you don't think that the lump is cancer, you should consult your doctor.
Then finally, a doctor may recommend you for a mammogram. There is also an x-ray for both the breasts. It will show lumps if are present. This can help the doctor to determine the likelihood of it being a cancer and if the lump shows up on a mammogram, then a biopsy will be taken. Tests will be performed on the tissue that was taken from the affected part. This is the final determination weather the lump is cancer or not.
