Sweets And Depression

It's summer, sticky weather and holiday and the temptation to sweet soft drinks and ice cream are hard to refuse. And we refuse negotiations, as only a desert can not really do us great harm.

But, unfortunately, things do not stop at a small snack. Then appear the guilt and if the phenomenon is repeated constantly, installs also the depression. And so we enter in a vicious circle from which you can get out only with your own will, at least in a first phase.

And it is true on vacation, will and self-control are somewhat numb. It was found that sweets can cause depression, but you often eat to treat depression.

Studies show that sugar stimulates the formation of serotonin (hormone of feeling well) and, therefore, consumption of sweets is actually an attempt to self-healing their depression. It clearly revealed that proteins and fats increase serotonin levels and carbohydrates decrease the level.

It seems that it is important the glycemic index of carbohydrates consumed: the more this index is greater (that produces increases as high blood sugar), the more it produces more serotonin. The chocolate composition have isolated a number of alkaloids that appear to be responsible for the abundance of serotonin secretion after ingestion of chocolate. And presumably to the "upstart-holism" (chocolate addiction) explanation is related to serotonin deficiency of the person consuming.

Unfortunately, repeated indulgence in terms of consumption of sweets may be a source of growth in weight and depression that may develop. Most times, the food behavior, which includes regular sugar in the diet, pass unnoticed and only when scale and clothes signal us, only then we start a diet (in the happiest cases).

So be aware with realistic degree of sweets addiction (I can afford a dessert once a week, daily or 3 times a day?) And according to this, solution will be found to this problem.

There are times when the appetite for sweets is stimulated by various drug substances (antidepressant medication). Also through drugs, appetite for food can be stimulated, so talk with your doctor to any problem related to food behavior, before you take any drug.
When we eat something, although we are not hungry, we must ask is why do: pleasure, boredom, loneliness?

Healthier could be a nice warm bath with lots of foam and browsing one of your favorite magazines. You must therefore practice distractions from food and focus on other concerns are welcome. And do not forget the movement and regular exercise which stimulates the formation of endorphins, substances that improve the general condition.

Appetite for sweet is even stronger when there is hunger. Water is also important because the state of dehydration is often confused with hunger. Let drink fresh water!
