Getting Old and Maintaining Healthy Bones and Joints
Bone and joints health is of high importance nowadays. Many people have bone or joints related conditions. When you reach 40, the mass of your bones will start decreasing. Cells will produce more than they will destroy and your bones will get thinner and thinner. Also, they will be less dense.
You can prevent and eventually treat many bone and joints conditions. Preventing them will be less harmful and easier than treating them so you may want to primarily choose the prevention method.
Unfortunately, there are many conditions that do not let us enjoy our last years on Earth. Luckily, almost all of them can be prevented or treated. We need anti-oxidants, vitamins and minerals from our food in order to prevent conditions of bones and joints. Let us see some of the 2 of the most common bone and joint related diseases:
Osteoporosis
Osteoporosis is the most common condition in terms of bone diseases. It is more common at older people and at the female gender. This is because women's hormonal changes at the menopause. Bones weaken during that period and sometimes it leads to fractures. The most important thing that you can do to prevent osteoporosis is getting enough calcium. You should cover the recommended daily dosage of this mineral.
Calcium is the most important mineral that can cure or prevent the appearance of osteoporosis. Unfortunately, more than 70 % of the population worldwide doesn't get their daily necessary dosage. We simply do not eat healthy enough to achieve those limits. You can get calcium from foods like dairy products, fish, cereals and others. Another way of getting the necessary dosage of calcium is taking supplements.
Arthritis
Arthritis is the most common joints condition worldwide. Many suffer from this disease and sadly many will suffer in the next years. Arthritis has many forms but the most encountered form is osteoarthritis. In general, it affects older people, but there were cases of osteoarthritis even among the young generation.
Arthritis can be very painful as it stiffens your joints and can make moving very painful. Also, you will encounter swelling at a man/woman who has this condition. Sometimes the arthritis is so severe that it causes the bones to rub against each other. This is the most painful form.
If you want to avoid arthritis you should have a healthy diet based on seafood, olive oil, vegetables, fruits, cereals, brown rice, seeds, eggs, onions, water and ginger. This way you will give your body all the necessary nutrients to prevent arthritis.
You also have to do exercise daily if possible. If you already suffer from arthritis the best exercise for you is swimming. This is because swimming doesn't force your cartilages and joints.
Foods that can inflame arthritis are unfortunately the ones we normally eat. Meat, fats, coffee, potatoes, tomatoes or eggplants are all bad for arthritis.
