Hip Bone Problems and Treatment

Bone health is one of the most important concerns of human kind. Every few years, new conditions and diseases of bone appear. There are several treatments available that you should know about when you have bone health issues. Hip bone problems are one of the most encountered bone problems in the world. The hip is one of the most important joints of our body. Hips are also called ball-and-socket joints because the thigh bone has an aspect of a ball that moves in a space that looks like a cup.

There are many sources of pain when it comes to hip problems. While there may be the hip itself the problem, there are other surrounding organs that can take the blame for your pain. Hips are considered to be strong parts of the human body. This can change after prolonged activities such as running or playing sports. Falling is another reason for hip injuries.

In general, trauma is the most encountered cause of the pain in hip bones. There are also other causes. Hip bone problems may appear as a result of having such diseases:

Arthritis

Arthritis is maybe the most common hip bone problem. In general, the arthritis that affects the hip is osteoarthritis. In this case, the cartilage is suffering from what is commonly named "wear and tear". This condition appears in general at elderly people and is caused by friction and thin hip bone.

Avascular Necrosis

It is caused by the loss of bone that is generally a consequence of injuries. It may induce the break of the hip joint.

Bursitis

This is another hip bone condition. Basically, when having this condition, your bursa inflames. Bursas are surfaces that should reduce the friction between tissues of the body. This induces pain in the hip area.

There are many ways to treat these various hip bone problems. For example, a mild bursitis can be treated with ice compresses. Also, it is recommended to take pain medications and anti-inflammatory pills. A severe form of bursitis can only be treated with other medication.

There are cases when physical-therapy or even stretching exercises can be helpful. In other cases it is best to take anti-inflammatory medications for your hip pain. Also, in some cases the only option is a cortisone injection when the pills are not sufficient.

Hip problems can be overcome with exercising and using the proper treatment. It is always best to prevent problems than to solve them, so try doing that. The hip bone is one of the most important bones in terms of mobility so try taking care of it before it causes you pains. There are many ways to avoid hip bone problems but the most important one is to avoid falling because it will cause you a lot of distress if this happens.
