Natural and Home Remedies for Swollen Feet

There can be many causes why your feet swell and you have pain in them, but the main cause is arthritis, which is basically joint inflammation. Another reason for swollen feet is frostbite. Swollen feet can also happen because of kidney disease, a protein deficiency, salt retention, congestive heart failure, pregnancy, injuries, standing for long periods of time, and so many more. If you are subjected to swollen feet, you should check with your doctor to make sure that there is not a serious medical condition causing this problem.

To help with swollen feet and the pain that can sometimes accompany it, here are some home remedies and natural things that you can do at home.

· One of the best remedies to use at home is hot and cold water massage.

· Soaking your feet will help relieve the pain and swelling. Use the hottest water you can stand to put your feet into without burning your feet.

· Foot exercises and stretching.

· Avoid wearing high heels because they put a lot of pressure in your feet.

· Make sure that the shoes you are wearing fit properly which include the right size, comfortable to wear, and the right shape for your feet.

· Make a mixture of cinnamon, water, milk, lemon juice, and olive oil to massage on your feet.

· You can also make a mixture of water, eucalyptus essential oil, peppermint essential oil, and lemon essential oil to massage your feet.

· Soak your feet in a combination of baking powder and rice water to help with the swelling.

· To help with the pain and swelling you can also soak your feet in tea tree oil.

· Another good thing to soak your feet in is lavender bubble bath followed by a foot massage.

· You can also use sandalwood oil when you massage your feet.

When you are sitting down make sure that you find someway to put your feet up and at night, if possible, sleep with your feet elevated. If you find that your swollen feet are caused by salt retention you will need to cut back on salt and try one of the salt substitutes or other type of seasoning for your food. Just make sure that you do see your doctor to rule out any serious medical conditions for your swollen and painful feet.

If at all possible, make sure that you wear shoes with heels that are no higher than a couple of inches with good arch support.
