Pregnancy Preparation

Pregnancy and having a baby is not something that you should rush into, but instead there are things that you should do before you become pregnant. To help ensure that you have a healthy baby, you should make sure that you are avoiding any type of produce that has been sprayed with pesticides such as home grown celery, strawberries, apples, peaches, lettuce, carrots, and more. Opt for organic if you find you are craving any type of fruits or vegetables. There are some types of fruits and vegetables that are conventionally grown that have a low level of pesticides such as sweet corn, watermelons, tomatoes, and more, but eat them in moderation.

You should, also, make sure that you are getting plenty of folic acid not only before you become pregnant, but during your pregnant. Some good sources of folic acids include dried beans, citrus fruit, broccoli, and spinach. When you have adequate folic acid during a baby's development you can help to prevent neurological developments such as spina bifida. Make sure that you ask your doctor just how much you need because too much folic acid has its own risks.

Make sure that you reduce or stop smoking and consuming alcohol. You should, also, reduce the amount of caffeine you have on a daily basis. When you smoke you may have a small baby with a low birth rate while caffeine and alcohol can negatively impact the health of the fetus.

Make sure that you watch how much animal fat you eat because they can contain antibiotics, synthetic hormones, and chemicals such as DDT, and other pesticides, which can all accumulate in the animal fat. These things can transfer to our own fat when we eat any animal fat. When they are in our fat, they can stay there for years causing any damage silently.

When you buy any type of meat, look for the low fat options and make sure that you cut any fat off the meat preferably before you cook it. Instead of frying the meat you should broil it so the fat drains away. You should also remove any skin from the chicken or just buy skinless chicken breasts. Watch how much meat you eat a week and if possible make one or two meals a week vegetarian.

Make sure that the seafood you eat is safe and eat it in moderation. Seafood is a good source of Omega-3 Fatty Acids, but can also be contaminated with PCB's.

So before, you become pregnant and afterwards follow these things for a healthy baby.
