How to Tell if you Have Sun Damaged Skin

There are few things that are more enjoyable then being out in the warm sunshine and relaxing. Unfortunately just like most things that are enjoyable in life too much sunshine can be a bad thing. Being out in the sun can damage our skin and even give you skin cancer. If you are going to be out in the sun at all then making sure that you use a good sun block will give you the protection that you need. But what if it is already too late? How can you tell if your skin had already been damaged by the sun? This article will discuss some signs of skin damage.

A darkening of your skin tone
If you have noticed over the past couple of years that your skin tone has become darker then this may be evidence of skin damage. The reason for the darkening of the skin is because your body is trying to produce more melanin. Melanin is what your body uses as its natural sun block and it darkens the skin if it reaches advanced levels.

Peeling skin
Peeling skin is a well known sign of damaged skin and most people at some point in their lives have had their skin peel because of a sun burn. When the skin peels it is trying to replace the damaged skin with a healthier layer.

Wrinkles and age spots
Premature wrinkles and age spots are a definite sign of skin damage. Any time that you are venturing out in the sun, even on a cold winter day, without sun block you are risking damaging your skin. Every precaution that you can take will ensure that your skin will look its youngest and healthiest for a long time.
