What are the Skin Care tips for men?

Men usually neglect skin, the biggest organ of our body and the most abused part. They cringe at the very thought of doing all those skin care routines, which are normally associated with the women. Usually, men do not devote much time to their skin except for shaving, and that is too because, they do not like the stubble on their face. However, you should realize that proper skin care is very important for men too, so that the skin looks healthy and remains free from various skin problems.

As compared to women, the skin of men is usually thick and oily and hence tends to get clogged easily. This clogging of the pores lead to various skin problems and hence proper skin care is essential for the healthy skin. Moreover, if proper skin care is not taken, then the skin tends to age faster due to loss of elasticity and there are appearance of baggy eyes and wrinkles.

A normal skin care for men usually consists of just 5 simple steps consisting of cleaning, toning, exfoliating, moisturizing and protection and prevention of skin problems.
As the skin of men is oiler and more exposed to the harsh atmospheric pollutants, it is necessary to keep the skin clean by washing with cold water and a gentle soap. Never use a strong soap or a deodorant on your face. Clean your face with a good cleanser once or twice a week and then wash with lukewarm water, so that the pores remain open and the skin is able to breathe freely. Never rub your face skin, just pat dry.

After cleansing your face, exfoliate your skin, with a good scrubber. This will help in the removal of the dead skin cells and also in toning and smoothening of the skin surface. A good toner containing glycolic, salicylic or lactic acids helps in tightening and diminishing the skin pores and also discourages ingrown hairs. This also helps in keeping the pores open and also prevents the pollutants from entering the pores.

If you have a combination skin of oily and dry skin or just dry skin, then using the moisturizer is very essential for proper skin care. Moisturizing the skin with a non-oily moisturizer helps in making the skin supple and soft. Moisturizers also help in toning and calming the skin. Always try to use a moisturizer, which is non-alcoholic and does not have heavy fragrance. Never opt for products which are have very storing fragrance as it can result to redness and inflammation of skin.

But the most important part of the skin care is to protect and prevent skin problems. As stated above, most of the skin problems are due to exposure to harsh environmental elements and products and improper skin care. As you cannot avoid exposure to the harmful radiation of the UV rays, you can always apply sunscreen lotions to shield the skin from the harmful effects. A good skin care requires proper hydration of the skin cells. Hence, drinking plenty of water is very essential for the health of the skin. A dehydrated skin looks unhealthy and gives rise to many skin problems. You should drink at least 8-10 glasses of water everyday to have a good skin care and also for the digestive system.
