Being a teenager can be a very scary, exciting and confusing time for anybody around that age. There are so many things going on that many teenagers feel overwhelmed by not only their responsibilities, such as school work, sports and various other activities, but also their social lives, which become more active in the teen years and also sometimes more volatile with the addition of drugs and alcohol potentially, and these teens also have to deal with their changing bodies as well, which can be very scary and confusing.

There are many issues that a teen needs to deal with that can have fairly big effects on his or her health, and at that age a teen will most likely not even realize what potential damage he or she is doing to his or her body.

First of all, this is around the time when many kids become more and more aware of their bodies. This can cause many people to develop unhealthy eating habits that can just wreak havoc on a person's organs, sometimes without this person even realizing this is the case before it is too late. Many girls will start to eat less because they become really concerned with their weight and begin the cycle of dieting which can be healthy, but can also very easily become too obsessive and very unhealthy and potentially lead to and eating disorder such as anorexia or bulimia. Some teens can also start working out, which can be a good thing, but some might tend to overdo their workouts which can put unnecessary stress and strain on their bodies.

Teens also need to be aware that drugs and alcohol are really bad for them. Many teenagers do not realize the severity of engaging in use of the aforementioned substances and will start use once they become teenagers. While the activity may seem like the fun and cool thing to do at the time, it is not. Teenagers can still have fun and hang out with their friends without indulging in harmful behavior that can have very negative consequences both in the short-term and in the long-term as well.

A teenager just needs to be aware of how to treat his or her body so that he or she will grow up to be a healthy adult and will not suffer negative health consequences as a result of the behavior he or she partook in as a teenager. Being knowledgeable about anything that can happen can really impact a teen's decision.
